Funding and results

Competitive national and international research grants concurr to fund NGS research activities, allowing publications of high impact results in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

All research activities are funded by public and private agencies and foundations through competitive selection within national and european funding frameworks. At regional and national level PON, PRIN and FIRB funding support Alma Sequencing IRT research groups.

The 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development of the European Commission finances many research projects applying next generation sequencing technologies: NGS-PTL, NuAge, MyNewGut, REINFORCE, BAKE4FUN, FruitBreedomics, Mars, DROPS, EUROOT, WatBio,FISHPOPTRACE, MIMOmics, MISSION, COBRA, IDEAL, Langelin.

In addition Alma sequencing IRT research groups receive financial support from foundations and associations committed to supporting excellence in scientific research: AIRC (Italian Association for Cancer Research), Telethon, Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, the Foundation Seràgnoli, Veronesi, Carisbo, Del Monte, Cariplo, Ager (agro-alimentary and research) and AICR (Association for International Cancer Research).

The results of Alma Sequencing IRT are published in the following scientific journals: Nucleic Acid Research, Nature Genetics, Blood, Gene, PLoS ONE, Frontiers in Physiology, Epidemiology & Infection, Trends in Microbiology, Microbiology, Oncotargets and Therapy, Human Mutations Journal, Planta, BMC Plant Biology, BMC Genetics, Critical Reviews in Microbiology, Blood Cancer, Haematologica, Leukemia, Oncotarget, Bioinformatics, Blood Cancer Journal, Infection, Retrovirology, Genome Biology and Evolution, Molecular Biology and Evolution, Human Mutation, Aging Cell, Journal of Biological Chemistry, Cell Cycle, Journal of Bacteriology, Veterinary Microbiology, Heredity, Health and Ageing, Molecular Breeding, Human Genetics, American Journal of Human Genetics, European Journal of Human Genetics, Human Pathology, Molecular Plant Pathogen Interaction, Genome Biology, Psychopharmacology, Current Alzheimer Research, Psychiatry Research, European Neuropsychopharmacology, Plant Biotechnology, Coral Reef, Water Research.
