From China to Bologna to learn the secrets of the restoration made in Italy

A Chinese delegation of the International Centre for the Restoration of the Architectural Heritage at JiaoTong University, Shanghai, on August 6, 2013 has met in Bologna some Alma HeritageScience representatives, to discuss about potential collaborations.

Andrea Nanetti, Italian scholar at the University of Shanghai JaoTong has accompanied a delegation of researchers, led by Cao Yongkang, Director of the International Centre for the Restoration of the Architectural Heritage of the University, Chinese entrepreneurs in the construction industry and Chinese Public Institutions representatives, on a tour in the centers of excellence of the restoration in Europe.

After visiting the Acropolis Museum, the Vatican Museums, and the Opificio delle Pietre Dure in Florence, the Shanghai delegation stopped by at the Alma Mater, to attend the workshop "Heritage Building Conservation: Methods and Techniques ".

Rocco Mazzeo, Department of Chemistry, Elisa Franzoni and Tomaso Trombetti of the Department of Civil Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental and Materials Engineering, members of the scientific team of AHS IRT have highlighted to the Chinese guests the IRT’s activities and mission, emphasizing its essential characteristic of interdisciplinarity. Engineers, Chemists, Constructors, Architects, Conservators, everyone should know how to do restoration and complement each other.

The Chinese delegation recognized Italy has a strong expertise in the field of conservation and restoration, and the University of Shanghai has expressed a strong interest to begin a interdisciplinary collaboration in order to identify models and standards of intervention that could be applied in China and as well as in other areas of the world.
